Enquire About This Item

A heavy pitch pine Pig bench, with wedge tenoned legs and forged iron strap work. Late 18th/Early 19th Century.

A large and early example with scarring, gouges and marks from a couple of centuries of butchery, the colour of the waxed pine has mellowed into a warm chestnut with lots of character and patination.

From a private manor house in the Cotswolds, where it had been (for living memory) serving as a cloakroom bench in the stables, the perfect height for sitting to put your boots on.

167cm long (66")

445mm wide (17-1/2")

445mm tall (17-1/2")

8cm depth of top (3")

Lots of old scars and marks commensurate with age, minimal worm in a few small patches which is not live. Some of the strap work has deteriorated with time. Very lightly cleaned and waxed, ready for use in the home.
