A rare Victorian brown earthenware grocer’s storage jar, produced for the American market and stamped with bold ownership typography on the shoulder for a New York Grocer.

An unusual and scarce example of mid 19thC utilitarian pottery sourced in the North of the UK, it is unclear whether it was made by a British pottery for export, or is American made and has found its way across the Atlantic at some point in its life.

Condition:
There are two large chips to the outer rim, along with one smaller scrape, otherwise in nice condition and a rare piece that displays well.
