Pair of French Foie Gras terrines - Margherite Sarreguemines pot
A pair of mid 20thC lidded Foie Gras terrine pots, made by Sarreguemines in the Margherite pattern.
Hand painted with a naive daisy on each side, the moulded handles on the pots are in the form of a Satyrs face and each is complete with the original lid, which are also hand painted with a red pinstripe and embellished finial handle.
Used to cook Foie Gras at home, each lid also has a little pinhole to vent the steam when cooking. The underside of each pot bears the green maker's transfer from Sarreguemines et Digoin, along with the Margherite pattern mark and an artist's pallet transfer stating 'Peint a la Main' - hand painted.

One pot has a rim chip, which does not overly detract and cannot be seen when lidded.
