Red Belgian butchers tiles - Céramique d'Hemixem, Gilliot & Cie.
Antique Belgian butchers tiles, decorated with red underglaze transfer depicting sheep, cow and bulls. Intended as borders in early 20thC butcher's shops, these examples appear to be new-old stock, which are original but have never been tiled onto a wall. The reverse of each tile is moulded with a 'Made in Belgium' maker's roundel, along with the bold 'H' double axe mark of Céramique d'Hemixem, Gilliot & Cie.
