A German 'Bartmann' Jug, made of salt glazed stoneware with the bearded wild man on the lower neck.
Otherwise known as Bellarmine jugs, this rare example was one of three Thames finds, it's small size and good condition making it a significant & early piece. Circa 1550-70.

Small flake off the edge of the lip, with an old hairline that runs down approx half an inch. Tiny portion of old restoration inside the lip. Otherwise perfect.
