An early 20th Century lidded ointment/cosmetic cream pot. With gold band and over glaze black transfer print decoration. Featuring a fine pictorial of a butterfly, and the addresses of the New Perfumeries in Marseille and Paris in stylised scrolling typography.
WIth the prime Paris address of Opera avenue, these pots would have been used for stage cosmetics and removal creams, refilled for the actors and other high society members, parfumeries played an integral part in theatrical Belle Époque (Beautiful Era) France.
