A large and impressive cast iron Bear statue, expertly moulded in an aggressive pose with flowing fur, large paws and a snarling expression. A very heavy and well made statement piece from the late 19th/early 20thC, the face is nicely embellished with cold painted details along with some lovely wear and patination.
50.8cm approx length (20")
26.7cm tall to the top of the head (10-1/2")
Very good original condition with no damage or losses. There is some slight rusting to the exposed iron on the inside of the hollow casting and some residue of the hard moulding material remains inside, which crumbles away slightly when agitated. There are one or two small casting holes in the recesses of the fur that have been there since manufacture.
