A Victorian set of Ox head butchers tiles
Regular price £395
A very rare set of four Victorian butchers tiles by Craven Dunnill & Co. With a wonderful hand painted monochrome impression of a large Ox head in a dark blue/grey.
Acquired with a sister set of tiles depicting a sheep, the pair reportedly from a Butchers shop on the Isle of Man. Circa 1890's.
349mm square outside of frame (13-3/4")
Good condition, mounted together with some painted restorative touch out over the eye, covering a part of the join between the two left tiles, and a small amount of blue on the middle edge of the bottom left tile. A small chip/sliver from the corner of the bottom left tile in the middle, next to the frame.
