An Edwardian studio pottery clay head
Regular price £165
A life size terracotta clay head of an Edwardian gentleman. Fantastically sculpted with a solemn expression, slicked back hair and stylish moustache. From the first quarter of the 20th century and very reminiscent of Lord Kitchener.
The unglazed terracotta was originally painted in a flesh tone slip, which over the last century has degraded, flaked and worn.
By exposing the clay beneath to the elements, greening and natural patination has developed and turned this into a very decorative, unique piece of studio pottery.
220mm approx height (8-3/4")
152mm approx width (6")
204mm approx depth (8")
Patination, greening and flaking to the clay slip, but no damage at all otherwise.
