An early 20thC German apothecary salve pot. Made of white ceramic and decorated with black over-glaze transfer advertising 'Apotheke zum Salvator' of Oberstadt. The outside of the pot is decorated with three different transfers with two in scrolling Germanic script, one for the contents which would have been 'Sommersprossen Salbe' (Freckles ointment) and one advertising the business name:

'Apotheke zum Salvator des J. C. o. Dienes - Esseg, Oberstadt'

The third transfer is the trademark roundel for the business, which features a little pictorial of a bearded Jesus with his Halo.

Very good original condition with minimal wear to the transfer.
