He's a perfect gentleman - the swine! - 1st edition propaganda ephemera by Ronald Frankau
Regular price £55
Undated 1st edition paper back propaganda pamphlet, a humorous poem by Ronald Frankau, illustrated by Laurie Tayler, published 1940. Printed in England
Satirising Hitlers 'gentlemanly' perception despite his imperialistic campaign, this poem was written to quell the pro german sentiment during the early stages of the second world war. The hand drawn illustrations by Tayler show a swastika branded pig, slowly turning into Hitler, with his friendly outward portrayal masking his true intent.
The pamphlet is a very good example of the piece, with bright colours to the paper sleeve and relatively little wear.
213mm (8-3/8") x 149mm (5-7/8")
Very good condition. Light foxing and minor creasing, the two spine corners are ever so slightly crumpled. Inside pages very good, with one foxing/water mark to the outside edge of the front page, slightly affected back sides of later pages but progressively fades throughout the pamphlet.
