Julius Bergemann Figaro-Crême pictorial pot lid
Regular price £850
An incredibly rare 19th century advertising pot lid for Figaro shaving cream, produced by Julius Bergemann of Berlin.
Decorated in black transfer print, with a fantastic pictorial showing a large man wearing a barbers cloak with shaving cream on his face. A striking and detailed image with his dark bushy hair and moustache swirling against the tonal shading of the face, his eyes looking down as if reclining away from the viewed perspective.
The pictorial is accompanied by the manufacturers name in Gothic script and the contents and address in bold, finished around outside with a fine pinstripe border.
With its incredible pictorial and Berlin address, this domed top advertising pot lid is a unique and unrecorded continental example, possibly the only of it's kind to remain in existence.
