Large Granitine "Improved Rational" plate washer

An early 20th century photographic plate washer. Made of white ceramic with grooves for 9 plates, a built in syphon tube for draining and a lip for incoming water, with holes in between each plate to evenly distribute the flow.
The front is marked with the makers belted 'Granitine' logo and registration number - 444997. On the back edge on the inside is the name of the product - 'The "Improved Rational" plate washer'.
Granitine was the trade name for a range of darkroom pieces produced by Taylor, Tunnicliff & Co. of Hanley, Staffordshire from around 1887, including development trays, tanks and troughs.
These ceramic vessels are perfect for toothbrush storage in a bathroom, or next to a butlers sink as a unique pot for sponges, wash cloths and washing up liquid.
