A mid 19th century German flower sellers bucket, coopered with split willow banding and beautifully hand painted with two charming naive panels of roses, along with the date of 1851 underneath the top cutout.
A large and very decorative antique bucket with wonderful rustic character, it is still very usable for its original purpose of displaying tall flower stems or concealing a pot, or could be used as a stick/umbrella stand in the hallway of a country cottage.
61cm tall (24")
Top - 55.9cm (22") x 35.6cm (14")
In lovely original 'as found' condition, some woodworm chewing and losses at the top but no significant damage. Some of the slats have ever so slight movement but all secure in the coopering.
