An early thick walled ointment pot with black transfer advertising for 'R. Low & Son, Perfumers to their majesties, 330 Strand, London'.
A lovely clean Victorian example circa 1875, the bowl of the pot is rounded for ease of scooping the ointment out, with the rim of the heavy pot molded with a pronounced lip for tying over a cloth or muslin cover as a lid.
6cm Tall (2-3/8")
6.7cm Rim diameter (2-5/8")
There are a couple of tiny scrapes to the foot of the pot, including a small impact crack/fault on the bottom and inside of the heel, but cannot be seen when displayed and is sound with no movement. Slightly rough around the rim from usage wear, but otherwise very clean with a crisp transfer strike.
