Georgian Oak Tilt top table with apple wood column
Regular price £350
A Georgian Oak tilt top table, with a turned baluster apple wood column and arched oak tripod legs.
A wonderful example of English country furniture from the mid 18th century. A round oak top (which features a Victorian blacksmith restoration of steel plates to the underside) sits atop a beautifully patinated apple wood baluster column.
The oak top and legs have also mellowed beautifully into a soft warm colour, a simple but very well made piece of vernacular furniture with its original patina and polish.
height with top flat 705mm (27-3/4")
Top diameter 745mm (29-1/4")
stem length 515mm (20-1/4)
Old shrinkage splits in the timber on the bottom of the stem and the top of one leg, but all leg joints are solid. Shrinkage split in the top, but sound and secure on the tilt rails. Old burn and water/ring marks in the top polish commensurate with age.
